Werdperfect × The Kickdrums "Pretty Orange"

Matt and I have known each other since we were kids, and we’ve lived a lot of life side by side. When he gave me free rein to direct “Pretty Orange,” we wanted to reach back to our rural roots.

We found an orange grove still thriving in the middle of Los Angeles. It was 105 degrees that day. Fallen citrus meant bees everywhere, and for reasons nobody could explain, painted turtles were roaming the ground.

Everything you see was done in camera. Production designer Robert Müller brought in the televisions and gave the world another dimension. There were plenty of happy accidents and a lot of sweat. Matt, thank you for living up in those trees all day, fighting bees, turtles, and everything the San Fernando Valley heat could throw at you.
