Think about how many decisions you make in a single aisle without noticing: brand, size, flavor, and price, all read at a glance.

Episode two follows recording artist Lachi through that same trip with Lookout, Google’s app that uses the phone’s camera to identify objects and read labels out loud. Point it at a product and it tells you what it is, so the choice is hers and nobody has to make it for her.

Filming it, I kept thinking about how much of my own life runs on reading things I never think twice about. Watching Lachi shop entirely on her own, one product at a time, was a quiet kind of powerful.
