Bloomingdale's Minimal Nature
Some locations are just a backdrop. Saddle Peak House is a character.
Designed by Michael Sant of Sant Architects, it sits high on a ridge in the Santa Monica Mountains above Topanga, right where the mountains run into the Pacific. It’s been featured across the design world, and one look tells you why: fourteen board-formed concrete walls rising straight out of the terrain, floating slabs of steel and glass, and a dark blue infinity pool that mirrors the ocean beyond it.
Shooting Bloomingdale’s collection there was all about the lines, matching the clean geometry and muted tones of the architecture with the shape and color of the clothes. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Catalina Island, where we shot the Coastal Picnic collection.
