Bloomingdale's Coastal Picnic

Summer, dressed up and set loose on Catalina Island.

We shot Bloomingdale’s new summer collection right on the water, including out on a sailboat, with a hillside town tumbling down to the harbor behind us. It gave us that Amalfi-meets-Santorini feeling without ever leaving California.

We live in a world full of muted palettes, so getting to work with vivid color from designers all over the map was a breath of fresh air. Look after look, the island kept giving.

Then the sun started to drop, and Catalina turned to gold. We chased the last light along the shoreline while every color in the collection got warmer by the minute. That sunset window is short, so there’s no time to second-guess a single frame.
